The Association of Pickleball Players (APP) has exciting news today as it announces its latest international partnership with India’s Global Sports.
A Significant Milestone
The APP will now be the promoting partner of the 2023 Monsoon Pickleball Championship, which is powered by The APP and scheduled to take place from August 24th to 27th in Mumbai, India.
This championship marks a significant milestone as the first large-scale pickleball tournament in India. It reaffirms the APP’s dedication to supporting the rapid growth of pickleball on a global scale.
A Diverse Range Of Events And Clinics
The event will be the third international tournament powered by the APP in 2023, following partnerships with Pickleball England and Pickleball Sweden for hosting tournaments in Europe.
During the tournament week, the Monsoon Pickleball Championship powered by The APP will offer a diverse range of events and clinics. Participants can engage in traditional singles, doubles, and mixed doubles matches, with age groups spanning from U-14 to 60+.
Even some A-list Bollywood celebrities will take to the court for an exhibition match!
Skill levels will include open, intermediate, and advanced, ensuring an inclusive and competitive environment. Players will have the chance to compete for cash prizes of up to ₹15 million INR, equivalent to $20,000.
The Prestigious NESCO Center
The matches will be played on 17 courts, including two center courts and one VIP exhibition court at the prestigious NESCO Center in Mumbai.
APP Founder Ken Herrmann expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “As stewards for the game of pickleball, the APP is excited to add another international event to its 2023 slate.
“Pickleball participation continues to spread rapidly worldwide, and we are proud to lend a hand in support of the creation of large-scale tournaments like the Monsoon Pickleball Championship powered by The APP.
“India’s rich cultural heritage offers a tremendous opportunity to introduce our beloved sport to millions of people and share our passion for the game.”
