BashBoxes, shipping containers and pickleball: Yet another new venue opening, this time in Kansas City area

It’s getting difficult to keep track of all the new pickleball-themed entertainment venues opening across the country. And now you can add yet one more location to the list: SERV in the Kansas City market.

SERV, which will offer both indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, is ready to open in Overland Park, Kansas, a bustling suburb of Kansas City, Missouri.

According to a story from KMBC 9 News, SERV will also offer food, yard games and private event spaces.

In a press release, SERV’s owners said that the concept for the new entertainment center was first conceived in 2020 by Rachel Kennedy-Cuevas, a Kansas City-area restaureteur. This won’t be Kennedy-Cuevas’ first innovative concept in the area: She is also the creative force behind The Iron District, a food and retail park made up of renovated shipping containers.

According to the company, the Overland Park SERV location will feature six climate-controlled indoor courts and a pair of outdoor courts. Those hungry after playing will be able to choose a meal from a promised six outdoor eateries. Food offerings will include street tacos, barbecue and a plant-based eatery.

And what about those players who get thirsty? SERV will also include two bars and an onsite coffee shop. Those with a sweet tooth can sample treats from an ice cream and dessert location onsite.

The location will feature plenty of other entertainment, too. According to SERV, the site will include two large video boards that will be tuned to sporting events. Customers can also rent private event spaces, an option that includes cabanas with their own TVs and BashBoxes, modified shipping containers designed for family members and friends ready to hold their own private parties.

SERV has not yet announced an office date for its grand-opening, but the company is in the process of hiring staffers.
