Bermudan pickleball is poised for a remarkable surge in popularity next year, all thanks to the success of the groundbreaking inaugural Commercial League, which has laid down the framework for a sparkling future.
Pilot Initiative
With 14 teams comprising a total of 123 players, the competition was executed as a pilot initiative, paving the way for a grand-scale launch in May next year.
The Royal Gazette reported how Sarah Fox, co-organizer of the league, celebrated the program’s triumph and expressed her excitement about the dynamic growth that lies ahead.
“The league achieved resounding success, not only fostering sportsmanship but also nurturing team cohesion and camaraderie,” she exclaimed. “Our sights are firmly set on May 2024, promising an even grander and more spectacular event.”
Start Me Up: “The Rallying Stones” Dominate
First place went to the Rallying Stones, who amassed a stellar 86 points, with Conduit Re close behind at 67 points, followed by Chubb with an admirable 57 points.
In Division Two, the title was claimed by Fidelis Wiffle Wanderers, accumulating an impressive 71 points. Bacardi’s squad, aptly named “Do What Moves You,” secured a commendable second place with 56 points, while Chubb closely trailed in third place with 55 points.
Dedication and Skill Elevate the League’s Status
Danny Fox of the Pickleball Association of Bermuda board recognized the teams’ commitment, talent, and fighting qualities.
“Each of these teams showcased unwavering dedication, skill, and a true competitive spirit, making the league a thrilling spectacle for all involved,” he acclaimed.
