The newly opened Casper Pickleball and Sports Complex in Casper, Wyoming, has been announced as the venue for two upcoming state tournaments.
Open To Resident And Non-Resident Players
The first is the Wyoming Senior Olympics pickleball tournament for players ages 50 and over, which will take place from June 1–2. The Wyoming State Pickleball Championship, which is open to players as young as 5, will be held at the indoor complex from July 12–14.
Casper Pickleball and Sports Complex Chief Operating Officer Sam Dia, who is managing the tournaments, told Oil City News that the events are open to resident and non-resident players.
To be eligible for the Senior Olympics, competitors must have reached the age of 50 by December 31, 2023. Competitions are categorized into recreational, intermediate, and advanced skill levels.
In Wyoming, the Senior Olympics are divided into age groups ranging from 50–54 to 90 and above, each corresponding to the respective skill level.

A Two-Round-Robin-8 Format
Registration for the senior tournament commenced on March 5, and interested individuals can register here. The registration period ends on May 20, or when all available sports slots are filled.
The weekend tournament offers various divisions, including men’s and women’s doubles, mixed doubles, and men’s and women’s singles across all skill levels. Additionally, an option exists for a 2-round-robin 8 format where athletes compete without designated partners, playing with and against all other participants.
Each skill level admits eight teams, with the competition format comprising round-robin matches followed by single-elimination rounds. Participants seeking to play doubles are only required to find a partner after registering.
Valuable Practice
Dia suggested that the senior pickleball tournament could serve as valuable practice for the Wyoming Senior Summer Olympics in Cheyenne, scheduled to take place from July 31 to August 4.
For those eager to enhance their skills, clinics and coached games will be held from April 20–21 at the Casper complex as part of the Saturday–Sunday activities. Interested individuals can register for these sessions via the Wyoming Senior Olympics website. These April sessions were rescheduled due to the cancellation of similar events on March 18 and 19.
Managed by Dia, the Wyoming Senior Summer Olympics pickleball tournament in Cheyenne serves as a qualifying event for the 2025 Summer National Senior Games in Des Moines, Iowa. Registration for all Senior Olympic sports events in Cheyenne, including pickleball, will be open from May 1 to July 20.
A Significant Turnout
The Wyoming State Pickleball Championship, occurring from July 12–14 in Casper, also serves as a qualifier for the nationals in Dallas, Texas. Dia anticipates a significant turnout, especially from players from neighboring states.
Championship participants are divided into age categories ranging from 5 to 18 to 70 and above, with registration based on skill level. Children wishing to compete must have turned 5 by December 31, 2024.
Registration remains open until June 30. Early registrants benefit from discounted fees before April, after which fees will increase gradually.
