“Largest Pickleball Facility In The Northeast” Planned For Robbinsville, NJ

A new development is poised to transform the pickleball landscape in New Jersey. Plans for a new court and arena complex at the former Robbinsville Fieldhouse in Robbinsville, New Jersey, are scheduled to commence this spring.

Twenty Cutting-Edge Courts

According to their press release, the ambitious project, aptly named The Robbinsville Pickle House, will contain 20 cutting-edge courts, making it the largest pickleball venue in the northeast.

New Jersey is set to be spoilt for choice when it comes to huge pickleball facilities. In February, we reported on plans to open another 20-court facility 50 miles northeast in Wayne in spring 2025. However, this establishment is slightly smaller at 50,000 square feet.

In partnership with USA Pickleball, the Robbinsville Pickle House is primed to deliver an unparalleled experience for both players and spectators. The centerpiece of the facility will be its expansive indoor arena, equipped with state-of-the-art amenities.

Highlights of the Pickle House include:

  • A sprawling 60,000 square-foot complex featuring more than 20 indoor commercial pickleball courts, meticulously designed in collaboration with USA Pickleball to optimize gameplay.
  • An onsite restaurant and bar café.
  • Cutting-edge lighting systems to ensure optimal visibility for gameplay.
  • Year-round climate control, with amenities such as air conditioning, radiant heating, and heated courts, guaranteeing comfort regardless of the weather.

“Excited To Collaborate”

Carl Schmits, Managing Director of Facilities Development and Equipment Standards at USA Pickleball, seemed delighted with the new complex, saying, “USA Pickleball is excited to collaborate with the leadership team of the Robbinsville Pickle House to deliver a facility of this scale in one of the largest markets of the United States.

“As we continue to see an explosion in demand for pickleball courts and facilities across the country, it is great to see the Robbinsville project come to life and provide local communities with a phenomenal place to play.”

Christopher Vernon, the founder of Mercer Management, is the brainchild behind the endeavor and sees The Pickle House not only as a sports complex but as a vibrant community hub. From league tournaments to instructional classes and private court rentals, the Pickle House will cater to players of all skill levels.

Vernon remarked, “We’re thrilled to unveil The Pickle House later this year, a culmination of our dedication to providing top-tier facilities for athletes of all backgrounds.

“Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, The Pickle House welcomes you to experience pickleball like never before.”

Enhancing The Visitor Experience

In addition, The Pickle House is committed to enhancing the overall visitor experience. Partnering with nearby hotels such as the Robbinsville Hampton Inn & Suites, Homewood Suites by Hilton, and Hilton Garden Inn ensures convenient accommodations for league events and overnight stays.

Mayor Dave Fried of Robbinsville Township expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “We are thrilled to help accommodate one of the fastest-growing sports in America, if not the world.

“This iconic fieldhouse has been the source of so many wonderful memories over the years, and thanks to Chris Vernon’s vision and his Mercer Management team, you can be sure more lasting memories are in store.

“We couldn’t be prouder to play a small part in ushering in this new era of Pickleball with Mercer Management.”

The Pickle House is actively recruiting experienced professionals to oversee its operations and provide support to members. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply at [email protected].

When I first started writing about pickleball, I hadn't appreciated the huge range of related features it encompasses: from building communities and players fighting against court closures to overcoming health challenges and raising money for charity, it's a whole new world! I love the stories about the smaller towns from the farthest-flung corners of the U.S. and how those residents have adopted pickleball to create friendships and community spirit.
