Family Service Agency of Santa Barbara County (FSA) is pleased to announce the inaugural FSA Annual Pickleball Tournament, scheduled to be held at the Montecito Club courts on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The proceeds from this event will support the agency’s senior programs and youth mental health initiatives, two vital programs benefiting Santa Barbara County residents.

An Engaging And Memorable Experience

Tournament Director Natalie Collins-Smith, an accomplished Pickleball professional at the Montecito Club with extensive experience organizing successful pickleball events, promises an engaging and memorable experience for all participants.

The tournament will comprise brackets tailored to skill levels, ensuring players engage in matches that align with their abilities. Novice players will have the opportunity to challenge themselves, while experienced players can demonstrate their skills against similarly matched opponents.

Registration fees are $125 per player or $250 for a team of two. Additionally, sponsorship opportunities are available, providing valuable exposure and a chance to positively impact the lives of seniors and youth in the community.

A Day Of Spirited Competition

In addition to thrilling matches, participants can anticipate a day filled with tempting refreshments, award ceremonies for each bracket, and high-quality SWAG to commemorate the event.

Director of Advancement Jan Campbell said, “This event promises a day of spirited competition and camaraderie, all while supporting causes that make a difference in our community.

“We hope local businesses and pickleball enthusiasts will join us in this effort to enhance the well-being of seniors and bolster mental health resources for our youth.”

Brackets Based On Skill Level

Remember that brackets will be structured based on skill level, regardless of gender, so please register accordingly.

Specific start times will be communicated to players in the week leading up to the event. Space is limited, and spots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

For the registration form, please download and complete it before emailing it to Emma Sonsini at [email protected].

For further information about the tournament, sponsorship opportunities, or registration, kindly contact Emma by email or at 805-966-1001 x 1267 or visit fsacares.org/pickleball.

For specific inquiries about Pickleball skill levels or brackets, please get in touch with Natalie Collins-Smith at [email protected] or call 805-610-4085.

Spaces are limited.

About The FSA

Family Service Agency of Santa Barbara County, also known as Santa Maria Youth & Family Center in the Santa Maria Valley, is a nonprofit social service agency serving the people of Santa Barbara County since 1899.

FSA endeavors to assist the community’s most vulnerable children, families, and seniors in meeting their basic needs while concurrently addressing secondary mental and behavioral health needs.

Through this comprehensive approach, FSA enhances the strength and well-being of our community.

All services are offered free or on a sliding fee/donation scale, and no one is turned away due to an inability to pay. For more information, visit fsacares.org or call (805) 965-1001.

Why Sponsor The Event?

Sponsoring this event provides an opportunity to demonstrate support for programs that empower low-income children, families, and seniors in the area.

Sponsors enjoy extensive advertising and event recognition opportunities that reach attendees, over 1,000 supporters, and constituents.

One in five Santa Barbara County residents lives in poverty. By partnering with them, you can help families access safety net programs, achieve mental health goals, and build brighter futures.

When I first started writing about pickleball, I hadn't appreciated the huge range of related features it encompasses: from building communities and players fighting against court closures to overcoming health challenges and raising money for charity, it's a whole new world! I love the stories about the smaller towns from the farthest-flung corners of the U.S. and how those residents have adopted pickleball to create friendships and community spirit.
