Here’s my confession: when Selkirk launches a completely new paddle platform, I really pay attention.
This is a legacy brand that has already produced some seriously strong paddles over the years, including the LUXX, several SLK models, and the more recent Boomstik. So when the OMNI arrived with a Gen 4 all-foam core, adjustable side weights, and the same ultra-gritty Infinigrit surface used on the Boomstik, I knew I had to test it. I chose the elongated version, which is my preferred shape.
My first session, however, was not impressive. The paddle felt muted. I wasn’t getting much free power, and my drops, resets, and drives felt average. Coming from the Boomstik, Bread & Butter Loco, and JOOLA Agassi Pro V, I wondered whether the OMNI simply lacked the performance I expected.
Then it started to grow on me.
After several more sessions, the control improved, the touch became more predictable, and I started appreciating just how forgiving and spin-friendly this paddle really is.
After nearly a month of playtesting, I’m giving the Selkirk OMNI 16mm Elongated 4.25 balls out of 5.
It offers elite spin, outstanding control, one of the largest sweet spots I’ve tested, and surprising hand speed for a paddle with such a head-heavy balance. It does not offer easy power, though. You will need to generate that yourself.
At $299.99, this is also a serious investment. But if you value touch, consistency, customization, and all-court versatility more than raw pop, the OMNI deserves a look.

What Makes the OMNI Different
The OMNI is built around Selkirk’s ReactCore system: a PureFoam floating center, an additional PureFoam ring, and an EVA power ring designed to produce a softer, more adaptive response.
In practical terms, the paddle gives you more control on slower shots and more response when you accelerate—but it still expects you to generate the pace. This is not a paddle that creates effortless power. Its strengths are the large sweet spot, strong stability, excellent spin, and consistent response across the face.
Selkirk also says the core was tested against repeated 110 mph ball impacts and maintained its structure without core crush. That is encouraging, although independent long-term durability still needs to be proven.
The Infinigrit surface delivers outstanding bite on the ball, similar to the Boomstik. The bigger question is how long that applied texture will remain at peak performance.
Overall, the OMNI’s technology clearly favors control, forgiveness, and spin over raw pop.
First Impressions
Out of the package, I liked the OMNI immediately.
I received the Chalk colorway, which may not be the flashiest option, but it has the clean, sophisticated Selkirk look. The oversized face logo and contrasting colors give it a premium appearance without looking overdesigned. The aluminum side weights also add some visual interest.
And yes, I can be wooed by a little flash. The handle stood out even more than the cosmetics. It is one of the longest handles I’ve tested, and it feels closer to a tennis racquet handle than many traditional pickleball paddles. The textured grip felt secure, and the 4.25-inch circumference worked well for my larger hands. Former tennis players and anyone who uses a two-handed backhand should appreciate the extra real estate.
The Infinigrit surface also grabs your attention immediately. It feels extremely rough—almost rough enough to make you wonder how it passed approval. That texture translates directly into excellent spin potential, but it also raises the obvious durability question that comes with most applied grit surfaces.
The other surprise was the balance. The paddle measures as clearly head heavy, yet it did not feel clumsy during practice swings. It felt lighter and easier to move than the balance data suggested. That became one of the recurring surprises throughout testing.
Game On… Playtesting
I first used the OMNI while coaching a clinic and kept it completely stock. Honestly, my first hour was disappointing. The paddle felt muted, my drives lacked pop, and my drops and resets were fine but forgettable.
A colleague mentioned that the OMNI might need a short break-in period, and that matched my experience. By my second and third sessions, the feel improved. Drops had better shape, resets came off softer, and the paddle felt far more natural during counters and hand battles.
Power never became a strength. I still had to supply plenty of swing speed on serves, drives, and putaways.
What changed my opinion was the control. Third-shot drops, crosscourt dinks, and transition resets became easy to trust.
The spin was exceptional, and the paddle was much faster in hand than its head-heavy balance suggested. The long handle also helped on two-handed backhands.
By the end of the month, I had gone from underwhelmed to impressed.

Power isn’t the OMNI’s calling card. It delivers enough pace for most situations, but you have to create it yourself. Serves, drives, and putaways all required more swing speed than true power paddles like the Boomstik or JOOLA Agassi Pro V.
The adjustable MOI weights can add a little more plow-through, but even in stock form, this is a control-first paddle rather than a power paddle.

This is where the OMNI shines. Once I adjusted to the softer feel, drops, resets, dinks, and third shots became incredibly easy to trust.
The paddle offers excellent dwell time, making it simple to change pace, shape shots, and keep defensive balls low. If control is your priority, the OMNI delivers.
3. Touch
The touch is plush without feeling muted. It absorbs pace exceptionally well, making transition resets one of the paddle’s strongest shots. Even slight mishits remained predictable, giving me confidence to play softer, more precise shots under pressure.

Despite its head-heavy balance, the OMNI feels surprisingly quick. I had no issues during hand battles, forehand-to-backhand transitions, or fast exchanges at the kitchen. The long handle also made two-handed backhands feel especially comfortable.

Stability is another standout feature. The paddle resists twisting well on hard drives and off-center contact, producing a solid, predictable response even when I didn’t strike the ball perfectly. It feels substantial at impact without ever feeling bulky.

One feature that sets the OMNI apart is its adjustable MOI weighting system.
Instead of adding lead or tungsten tape, you can reposition the side weights to fine-tune how the paddle plays. Moving them higher increases plow-through and power, while positioning them lower helps preserve hand speed and maneuverability.
I kept the paddle in its stock setup throughout testing, but I like having the option to make simple adjustments without the hassle of aftermarket weights.

Power is where our opinions differ slightly. Paddle Lab’s 39.48 MPH exit velocity suggests the OMNI has good power potential, but on court I felt it relied much more on player-generated swing speed than many premium power paddles. The OMNI is a paddle I would strongly recommend demoing before buying.
Its feel is different enough that one short session may not tell you much, especially if you are coming from a lively power paddle. Give it a few games, keep the weighting stock at first, and pay attention to whether your drops, resets, and targeting improve once you adjust.
That is really the decision point.
If you need the paddle to create easy pace, this probably is not the best use of $300. If you already generate your own power and want a more controlled, customizable setup, the OMNI becomes much easier to justify.
My advice: do not buy it for the technology list. Buy it only if the softer response and control-first feel clearly improve the way you play.
