Campbell, about five miles southwest of San José and 40 miles southeast of San Francisco, has recently seen a new pickleball facility open called The Hub Pickleball: Silicon Valley.
All Skill Levels
Situated just behind the old Fry’s Electronic Building, the sprawling facility measures 57,000 square feet and is a private membership club boasting 20 indoor courts, a pro shop, and a players’ lounge.
Co-owner Pat Rolfes stated, “We’re excited to open The Hub Pickleball: Silicon Valley and offer the Bay Area community a premier place to play. From novices to experts, this facility caters to all skill levels.”
General Manager Mike Fox was equally enthusiastic, “People are coming to play in droves. I’m just so excited that we’re bringing this to the Bay Area. There’s nothing like it.”
Cecile Bellito, co-owner of the Santa Cruz gym chain Toadal Fitness highlighted the game’s charm, saying, “Pickleball is so easy to play. I’ve been playing with my teenage son. It is so much fun. It’s just a hoot.”
Essentially Private Membership
Although the club is essentially private membership, it also welcomes drop-in play when space allows. It’s an inclusive experience, offering lessons, clinics, tournaments, parties, and corporate events.
One of the Hub’s unique selling points is its unique 15-foot-wide courts designed for single players, unlike the standard 20-foot-wide court.
Fox noted, “We have a lot of challenge courts that are designated by player level.”
Individual fencing around each pickleball court keeps stray balls in check and ensures smooth gameplay for neighboring teams. The emphasis is on a seamless experience.

Fox wasn’t finished praising The Hub’s facilities: “The paint and the backgrounds are made so that the ball will really stand out for the players. We’ve also put in soundproofing materials into mitigating the noise.”
Indoor courts at The Hub are climate-controlled and illuminated, offering optimal conditions for play throughout the year.
Bellito also emphasized the social aspect: “Playing indoors creates a camaraderie; it creates a community. You can share contact information; you can make new friends.”
Let’s give Mike Fox the last word, “We will be catering to people who want to have fun and people who really want to get better at pickleball.”
The Hub Pickleball: Silicon Valley is located in Suite 150, 600 East Hamilton Avenue, Campbell, CA 95008.
