The Rotaract Club of Chattanooga, Tennessee, is thrilled to announce its premier fundraising initiative for 2024 – the Chattanooga Pickleball Classic. Scheduled for May 18 and taking place at the First Horizon Pavilion, this tournament is poised to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children residing in and around the Chattanooga region, with all proceeds directed towards supporting the esteemed Chambliss Center for Children.

Fun And Competitive Pickleball

Matching the Rotaract Club’s steadfast dedication to community service, the Chambliss Center for Children strives to enhance the well-being of its children, youth, and families. Through active participation in the Chattanooga Pickleball Classic, attendees not only get to play some fun and competitive pickleball but also actively contribute to furthering the mission of the Chambliss Center.

Comprising three thrilling competitions, each featuring teams of two players, the tournament welcomes seasoned pickleball veterans and eager novices alike. It provides a platform to showcase players’ prowess, create connections within the pickleball community, and, most significantly, effect positive change within the community.

At the heart of the center’s mission lies a steadfast commitment to addressing the evolving needs of the community, and by participating in this tournament, individuals directly contribute to the realization of that mission.

The tournament comprises three distinct events, with each team consisting of two players, and the registration fee is set at $100 per team. This fee encompasses two t-shirts and guarantees double-elimination matches for all participants.

Pickleball With A Purpose

“Pickleball with a Purpose” attracted a significant crowd at the Missouri Pickleball Club in Fenton this past weekend. The event served as a platform to raise awareness and funds for the Kendall Johnson Foundation.

Tragically, Kendall Johnson passed away unexpectedly in July 2022 at the age of 15. Her mother, Michelle Taylor, established the foundation as a means to perpetuate Kendall’s legacy of kindness and compassion.

“Pickleball with a Purpose” was conceived by Michelle’s close friends, who share her passion for pickleball and stands as a heartfelt tribute to Kendall’s memory while simultaneously providing aid to those in need. The event drew over 100 participants, comprising both seasoned players and newcomers eager to learn the game.

Polk County High School

Looking ahead, a pickleball tournament benefiting the athletics and the tennis program at Polk County High School in Columbus, North Carolina, is scheduled for Saturday, April 20.

It will be held at the school’s tennis courts and will be sponsored by Ashworth Financial. The tournament welcomes players of all ages and skill levels, with all six courts configured to accommodate matches.

Check-in commences at 9 AM, with a registration fee of $50 per team required prior to the start of gameplay. Teams have the option to register online for the tournament, with a gentle reminder that only one registration form is necessary per team.

When I first started writing about pickleball, I hadn't appreciated the huge range of related features it encompasses: from building communities and players fighting against court closures to overcoming health challenges and raising money for charity, it's a whole new world! I love the stories about the smaller towns from the farthest-flung corners of the U.S. and how those residents have adopted pickleball to create friendships and community spirit.
