I am a fan of efficient health. Guessing you are too…right? In short, we like to take care of our bodies in the simplest, but most complete manner. In a market drowning in hydration products, TIIGA (pronounced tee-ga) comes along with what I consider an efficient and more natural hydration drink packet: gut friendly hydration loaded with prebiotic natural fiber, natural antioxidants and electrolytes, but low in natural sugars.
Yes, fiber and electrolytes in one drink! But wait, there’s more! It tastes good (thankfully), comes in several flavors, and the starring ingredient and nutrients come from the “Tree of Life,” the sustainable African Baobab tree.
I give this product a 5 out of 5 balls. Drink up!

TIIGA – the Marvelous Baobab Tree Fruit Drink
If you’re reading this, you probably share my love for natural, nutrient-rich products. Before wrapping up my review, I had the chance to chat with Jeff, the CEO of TIIGA. Jeff, a former major league baseball player, lifelong athlete, and current coach, is a true hydration guru.
Our conversation was incredibly insightful and fascinating.
Sustainable Harvesting
TIIGA stakes its reputation on providing natural, nutrient rich hydration and that is why the African Baobab tree and its superfruit defines this product. The name TIIGA translates to “Tree of Life,” which is fitting for this sustainable tree. It supports African communities nutritionally, economically, and environmentally.
Fortunately, it is only the fruit that has to be harvested. The fruit of the tree has a natural powdery and fibrous interior which lends itself to a perfect unprocessed, dietary fiber.
Natural, Nutrient-Rich Goodness
Beyond its natural fiber, the Baobab fruit boasts an incredible nutrient profile, truly earning its title as a superfruit. Packed with magnesium, vitamin C, calcium, potassium, and a wealth of antioxidants, it surpasses most other fruits, seeds, and nuts in delivering these essential nutrients.
Let’s Mix it Up
The packaging is simple, and both the ingredient list and nutrition information is straightforward. The individual mylar packets are conveniently 5 inches tall, making them easy to slip into your pickleball bag or lunch pack.
Currently available are lemon lime, orange mango, strawberry, and raspberry lemonade flavors. The packets are easy to open and pour into your water bottle. Just follow the package instructions to shake well for complete mixing. A few shakes usually do the trick, but I found that giving it an extra shake or two while drinking helps minimize settling.
Over the past three weeks I tested several flavor varieties and while I liked them all, the orange mango and lemon lime were my favorites. The drink does have a small bit of “texture” to it, but not nearly as much as my psyllium fiber drinks. The flavors were light and not overly strong.
Gut Health & Electrolyte Benefits
I found myself drinking two a day and the gut health benefits were evident – I stopped my psyllium fiber supplement as well as other types of electrolyte drinks. I’ve noticed that without my electrolytes, playing pickleball often leads to nighttime leg and foot cramps.
The TIIGA drink, with its natural electrolytes, really did the trick to prevent any cramps from occuring. Plus, getting an extra 3-6 grams of natural fiber daily is a great bonus!
Stacking up to Some Competition
Product | Cost | Taste | Nutritional Content | Additional Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|
Nuun Tablets | $21.56 for 40 tablets | Quite good | Moderate electrolytes | Good for basic hydration |
Celsius Packets | $11.24 for 14 sticks | Quite good | High caffeine, taurine, and another stimulant | Provides too much energy for some users |
Liquid IV | $23.74 for 16 servings | Too much flavor | High sodium | Expensive |
Gatorade | $18.49 for a pack of 25 bottles | Good | High sugar content | High sugar |
G2 | $25.83 for a pack of 12 bottles | Good | Artificial sweeteners | Being phased out |
Gatorade Fit | $21.99 for a pack of 12 bottles | Very good | No artificial sweeteners | Better option for hydration |
TIIGA | $24.99 for 16 packets ($19.99 – Subscribe & Save program) | Great | Natural nutrition and fiber from Baobab fruit | Best value for natural hydration and fiber |
I have been using Nuun tablets, Celsius drink packets, and from time-to-time, Gatorade products and Liquid IV packets. While Nuun and Celsius are about half the cost and taste quite good, they don’t have the natural nutrition and fiber offered by TIIGA.
I’ve found that Celsius provides too much energy with its high levels of caffeine, taurine, and another stimulant that I can’t even spell. Liquid IV is loaded with electrolytes, but in my opinion, it’s a bit too intense in both flavor and quantity. Plus, it’s pricier than most options.
Gatorade has too much sugar, and G2, though lower in sugar, still contains artificial sweeteners and is being phased out. Gatorade Fit is a great option without artificial sweeteners, but it can be pricey unless found discounted. Then again, you miss out on the fiber which I prefer for multiple health reasons.
Getting the Best Deal on TIIGA
The regular cost for TIIGA is $24.99 for 16 packets. However, if you subscribe on drinkTIIGA.com, you can take that cost down to $19.99, which is quite a good value when you consider getting hydration and fiber together.
Although it’s available in several stores and more are being added, the best place to find it is online.
The Final Score
Indeed, TIIGA has produced an efficient and complete hydration product that delivers what active and maturing adults need – electrolytes, antioxidants, and fiber. While a bit more costly than many alternatives, you get what you pay for.
And add to the equation the fact you are supporting a sustainable product that aids a deserving African culture and economy.
Pickle on my friends, pickle on…
