Eight-time tennis Grand Slam winner Andre Agassi is set to kick off the inaugural South Beach Slam powered by Fisker pickleball tournament on Friday, November 17.
Agassi will join forces with the City of Miami Beach for the 3:30 p.m. ribbon-cutting event at 1665 Lenox Ave, Miami Beach, Florida. This ceremony marks a significant announcement positioning Miami Beach and Lincoln Road as central hubs for sports tourism this coming February.
Nike Miami
Nike Miami will also debut a collection of pickleball merchandise available for purchase at their South Florida flagship store on 1035 Lincoln Road throughout the weekend while supplies last.
In collaboration with electric vehicle manufacturer Fisker, the city aims to establish itself as the pickleball capital of South Florida by offering free registration for the first-ever South Beach Slam from November 17 to 19. This amateur doubles tournament will unfold on the renowned Lincoln Road, featuring a total prize pool of $12,000.

“We’re nearly at capacity for the tournament, and our Friday community programming is full with a waitlist just days before this historic inaugural event,” noted Miami Beach City Manager Alina T. Hudak.
Sports-Related Tourism
The rapid growth of sports-related tourism aligns naturally with Miami Beach’s allure—its pristine beaches, luxurious hotels, diverse recreational facilities, and vibrant cultural offerings.
The event owes its success to the generous support of Fisker, the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority. Community programming kicks off on November 17 at 5 p.m. with pickleball lessons and clinics catering to various skill levels. Agassi himself will showcase his pickleball prowess during the festivities.
Participants, regardless of skill level, signing up for the Saturday and Sunday tournaments will be paired with players of similar abilities or can team up with a chosen partner.
