Five 2024 APP Tour events will culminate with top-tier athletes engaging in team-based pro play, each event offering a $100,000 prize pool.
Team-Oriented Format
Making its debut next year, the team-oriented format will feature at five APP Tour events, presenting a condensed competition spanning singles, doubles, and mixed doubles matches, with professionals contending for a portion of the $100,000.
Founder of the APP, Ken Herrmann, emphasized their commitment to expanding the sport:
“We are committed to growing the game, and adding a format that players love to a tournament environment that sets the standard for pickleball events is yet another reason why we’re the place to be for the best in pickleball.
“We are excited to introduce our new team competition—one of a series of exciting additions to our portfolio in 2024.”
The Most Diverse Pickleball Offering
The incorporation of team-based contests now positions the APP Tour as the most diverse offering in the realm of pickleball organizations, appealing to participants and spectators by delivering a week-long schedule encompassing pro competitions in teams, singles, and doubles during these five events.
Additionally, the 2024 schedule features the inaugural international team event, the APP Atlantic Cup, alongside the continuation of its AARP Champions and Masters Divisions, catering to pickleball players aged 50 and above.
An Exceptional Pickleball Experience
The APP team-based pro competition will happen on a Sunday at five APP Tour events throughout 2024, reaching its climax at the last APP Tour event of the year.
The traditional APP schedule at these five stops will commence on Tuesdays and concludes with pro gold medal matches on Saturdays.
This new format epitomizes the APP’s intention of delivering an exceptional pickleball experience for all players, expanding the professional landscape following the recent announcement of a revamped amateur competition structure for 2024.
