CityPickle, renowned for introducing pickleball to notable New York City landmarks, including Central Park and JFK Airport, has inaugurated its inaugural permanent pickleball club in Long Island City, complete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Groundbreaking Club

This groundbreaking club, a pioneering establishment in Queens, New York City, boasts a 10,000-square-foot brick-and-mortar facility encompassing four indoor courts, all climate-controlled, and an impressive 21-foot-high ceiling.

In addition, patrons can also enjoy the amenities of a restaurant, bar, and retail shop. Situated at Woodworks, 9-03 44th Road, nestled between 9th and 10th Streets near Vernon Boulevard, this location promises pickleball enthusiasts an unparalleled experience.

Courts Hold Up To Eight Players

The courts will be accessible from the early morning hours until the evening. They can comfortably host up to eight players simultaneously, with competitive rates commencing at $10 per player per hour.

CityPickle also offers custom paddles for rental at a modest fee of $6, although players are more than welcome to bring their own equipment.

CityPickle is committed to enhancing the pickleball experience, catering to participants of all skill levels with an array of offerings, including private lessons, clinics, and pickleball leagues.

Individuals can conveniently book slots through CityPickle’s user-friendly online reservation system to secure court time.

Future Expansions

In a joint announcement, CityPickle disclosed its forthcoming pop-up pickleball courts at Brooklyn’s Industry City, commencing on Saturday, September 16, bearing testament to the surging interest in pickleball across New York City.

Co-founders Mary Cannon and Erica Desai hinted at future expansions, suggesting that the Long Island City establishment is just the inception of a broader endeavor.

Describing it as a “milestone moment,” Cannon and Desai emphasized the joy of playing pickleball on the courts while savoring margaritas and delectable cuisine.

“We can’t think of a more perfect combination than dinking on the courts with margaritas and delicious food to enjoy.”

A Diverse Menu

The CityPickle culinary repertoire boasts a diverse menu featuring hummus or beet ricotta with seasonal crudité and pita chips, margherita-style flatbread, classic Cubano sandwiches, and super green grain bowls.

Weekends bring a selection of breakfast sandwiches and an array of toasts.

Aficionados of exotic beverages will love the full bar, which offers a cocktail menu featuring concoctions like the spicy grapefruit mezcalita, frozen gin and tonic, and hibiscus margarita, in addition to an assortment of beer and wine.

For those seeking to celebrate special occasions, CityPickle provides packages tailored to birthdays and corporate events.

When I first started writing about pickleball, I hadn't appreciated the huge range of related features it encompasses: from building communities and players fighting against court closures to overcoming health challenges and raising money for charity, it's a whole new world! I love the stories about the smaller towns from the farthest-flung corners of the U.S. and how those residents have adopted pickleball to create friendships and community spirit.
