Brooklyn is becoming an increasingly popular destination for pickleball, and the borough will now welcome the exciting new pickleball venue called Court 16 at City Point.
Court Lines Adapt To The Game You’re Playing!
Located on the fourth floor of the City Point shopping center in Downtown Brooklyn, Court 16 offers a massive 26,000-square-foot space featuring state-of-the-art glass-floored courts with LED lit lines which change according to the game you’re playing!
ASB GlassFloor in southeast Germany makes the surface from two pieces of durable, matte-finished glass, each five millimeters thick. These glass pieces are laminated together using a PVB resin safety layer and placed on top of an aluminum substructure.
The specific product installed at Court 16 is ASB’s MultiSports floor, specially designed for a range of indoor sports such as basketball, handball, volleyball, badminton, and more. Ceramic dots are incorporated into the surface to provide grip, and a specialized treatment reduces light reflection, preventing distractions for players.
Reduces Injuries
Contrary to common misconceptions, the glass material used on the floor is surprisingly elastic. In fact, it bends 1.8 times more than a standard hardwood sports floor, making it highly shock-absorbent and reducing the risk of injuries. The floor’s consistent elasticity extends across its entire surface, including the middle of each panel and the edges that connect two panels seamlessly.
The textured glass surface also helps mitigate players sliding on the court, thus reducing the chances of sustaining friction burns if they fall. With the intense nature of the sport, especially on the lower back, the GlassFloor’s enhanced shock absorption ensures a safer and more enjoyable playing experience.
Contemporary Lounge With Ligne Roset Furniture
Court 16 gets its name from Belgian founder Anthony Evrard’s childhood court. The private club is scheduled to open its doors on Monday, August 28.
The development features a contemporary lounge featuring Ligne Roset furniture for all your after-games needs.
In addition to its spacious courts, Court 16 also offers players amenities like locker rooms, equipment rental, and more. Players can purchase paddles, balls, grips, shoes, and other gear at the pro shop.
City Point Pricing
At City Point, the cost of one pickleball session is $48. They also offer an adult monthly membership at a cost of $650.
Apart from its sports facilities, City Point in Downtown Brooklyn boasts a variety of other attractions, making it a vibrant hub for shopping and entertainment. Some of its prominent outlets include Brooklyn’s first Primark, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Dekalb Market Hall, a Target store, and a basement-level Trader Joe’s.
Fogo de Chão, the popular Brazilian-style steakhouse, also plans to join the impressive lineup and open at City Point later this year.
