Grab your rackets and something pink to wear! In The Pink Tennis and Pickleball Charity Event is set to get underway tomorrow, Friday, September 29.

The Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital invites everyone to play with a purpose at this year’s event.

Eight Locations Across Charlottesville, VA!

“Don’t feel like you need to be a pro with any of this. This is a fun event for charity,” said Tournament organizer Melissa Hoover. She added, “In the Pink Event is a pickleball and tennis event hosted in eight different locations around the city.”

The tournament will take place in eight stunning locations across Charlottesville, Virginia.

Eight clubs around town are joining them this year, including Lake Monticello for the first time. They can’t wait to see you for women’s, men’s, juniors’, mixed doubles competitions, and pickleball!

“We raised about $30,000 last year, and we’re on track to make even more this year,” Hoover said.

Thank you, WVIR NBC29, for supporting women’s health in our community and sponsoring the In The Pink Tennis and Pickleball Charity Event again this year! The event’s reach would not go nearly as far without its support!

A special thank you to Loring Woodriff Real Estate Associates for being a Grand Slam sponsor this year for the In The Pink Tennis and Pickleball Charity Event!

These sponsorships directly support patients and families in our community, providing FREE programs to help women prevent, diagnose, treat, and SURVIVE breast cancer.

100% Local!

As always, 100% of your support for the Martha Jefferson Hospital Foundation stays local to make a difference in our community.

Last year, your generosity raised $30,000, passing directly into Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital programs to support patients and families by making possible FREE programs to help women prevent, diagnose, treat, and survive breast cancer.

From free breast health screenings, wigs, and scarves to a 12-week survivorship program, the programs you support help women heal their bodies and spirits.

Many of these offerings would not exist, let alone be free, without community support through events like In The Pink to bring comfort and healing to women and families on their cancer journey.

So mark your calendars and come play with a purpose!

When I first started writing about pickleball, I hadn't appreciated the huge range of related features it encompasses: from building communities and players fighting against court closures to overcoming health challenges and raising money for charity, it's a whole new world! I love the stories about the smaller towns from the farthest-flung corners of the U.S. and how those residents have adopted pickleball to create friendships and community spirit.
