“Such A Fun Time”
Sock made his professional pickleball debut in May 2023 at the PPA North Carolina Open, where he clinched the mixed doubles title alongside top-ranked partner Anna Leigh Waters.
He also advanced to the quarter-finals of the men’s singles event. Reflecting on this experience, Sock shared his joy in an Instagram post: “One tournament. I had such a fun time competing in my first PPA event, and to cap it off with a title made it even more special!
“Big thanks to ALW for teaming up with me; let’s run it back sometime! Til next time, pickleball.”
The accomplished athlete has now confirmed his participation in the upcoming VIBE Pickleball tournament, featuring six teams. The players for each team will be determined through rosters and drafts.
An Impressive Tennis Career
With an impressive tennis career, winning four ATP singles titles and 17 tour-level doubles trophies, including victories at the 2018 US Open and Wimbledon in 2014 and 2018, Sock’s transition from tennis to professional pickleball is a landmark move.
He attained his highest singles ranking of No. 8 in the world in 2017; in 2018, he held the No. 2 rank in doubles.
Now at 31, Sock eagerly anticipates bringing his competitive spirit to the world of pickleball, stating, “I’ve always been drawn to challenges and new experiences, and pickleball represents an exciting opportunity for me to compete at the highest level once again.
“I’m honored to join Selkirk Sport, a company that shares my commitment to excellence, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us.”
