As The Baltimore Fishbowl reports, the allure of the sport is steadily growing in the Old Line State. The state proudly boasts the birthplace of Ben Johns, the world’s top-ranked pickleball player who hails from Gaithersburg.
Here’s a round-up of what’s on offer for Maryland pickleballers next month.
Spring Fling-ESPA Tournament Series
This tournament will be held in Salisbury at The Courts @ Harmon Field from May 4th to 5th. The Spring Fling is the last leg of the six tournaments for the Eastern Shore Pickleball Addicts (ESPA) Tournament Series.
The top eight teams in the point standings, including ties, will receive an invitation to the ESPA Tournament Finale on August 17-18, 2024, at the Worcester County Rec Center in Snow Hill.
Registration closes on April 28th, and 152 players have registered so far.

Shalom Tikvah Pickleball Tournament
This tournament takes place on May 5 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dill Dinkers in Finksburg, Maryland.
The event benefits Shalom Tikvah, a non-profit organization that offers innovative mental health care for the whole family and smashes the stigma of mental illness.
Shalom Tikvah supports Jewish families facing mental illness and other challenging life circumstances. In addition to therapy, Shalom Tikvah utilizes community resources like volunteer tutors, mentors, and community partners like JCS, CHANA, Chai Lifeline, and more.

Pickleball For Sobriety
Addiction Connections Resource is thrilled to announce its inaugural Pickleball for Sobriety event in 2024! Join them on May 11, 2024, starting at 8 am at The Pickleball House located at 1330 Innovation St, Middle River, MD 21220.
They are inviting participants and potential sponsors to join in the fun! The $65 entry fee includes up to two events.

Maryland Senior Olympics 2024 Pickleball Tournament
The Maryland Senior Olympics Pickleball Tournament will take place at Dill Dinkers on 2950 Dede Road, Finksburg, Maryland 21048 and is a qualifying event for the National Senior Games.
This year, they have expanded skill levels to three (3.0 and below, 3.5, and 4.0 and above), and to accommodate the growing popularity, they will be using two Dill Dinker facilities.
However, despite expanding the number of players they can host, the events tend to fill up quickly, and with more skill levels, there are fewer spots available at each level than in the past. So, if you are thinking of playing, sign up now to claim your spot.

Pickleball For The Pups
This tournament takes place on May 18 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Garrison Forest High School in Owings Mills, Maryland.
This event benefits Reed’s Rescue, a non-profit volunteer dog rescue organization serving Northern Baltimore County. They rescue terminally ill dogs and place them in loving and responsible homes, providing education to adopters about the special dog’s needs. Their mission is to create a better world for elderly and terminal pets.

Picklemesilly Weekend Tournament
The Second Annual Picklemesilly Memorial Day Weekend Tournament And Picnic takes place from May 25 to 26 at Garrison Forest High School in Owings Mills, Maryland.


This Memorial Day Weekend event invites the whole family, including the pups, to relax and enjoy the day while playing pickleball! All players registered before May 1 will receive a commemorative t-shirt, which will cost $25 at the event. Participants will also receive food and drink vouchers from the grill.
Proceeds will benefit Mount St. Joseph High School’s pickleball program.
Reed’s Rescue will be hosting a pup playground there. Families are also invited to bring their own picnic and set up on the campus around the courts.
