The Charlotte Chapter of the Speedway Children’s Charity is all set to revitalize the renowned Charlotte Motor Speedway’s pit road into something unexpected next week as it prepares to play host to a unique pickleball tournament.
Sponsored by Sonic Automotive and EchoPark Automotive, participants are assured of a day brimming with spirited rivalries, family fun, and a great community feel.
Challenge The Drivers!
The event, to be held on Thursday, January 11, aims to rally support for Speedway Children’s Charities. As part of the festivities, players may have the opportunity to challenge the 2017 Coca-Cola 600 victor, Austin Dillon, and other members of Richard Childress Racing.
Highly-rated NASCAR Xfinity drivers Ryan Vargas and Myatt Snider will join Dillon and several other personalities from the NASCAR domain, all getting together to generate funds for SCC while vying for the coveted custom championship trophy.
Enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels in the realm of pickleball are welcome to partake in this enthralling tournament styled as a Round Robin competition.

A Modest Donation
Beyond the exhilarating gameplay, attendees can enjoy musical entertainment and delectable delights from vendors’ concessions, and take part in friendly yard games set up within the speedway’s infield.
Attendees are respectfully requested to provide a modest $5 donation to SCC.
“A Unique Twist To This Popular Sport”
Taylor Kirby, director of Speedway Children’s Charities Charlotte Chapter, spoke enthusiastically about the event:
“Speedway Children’s Charities is always looking for creative ways to raise much-needed funds for children in need, and this event is no different.
“Kicking off the new year with our new Pit Road Pickiebal tournament not only offers a unique twist on this popular sport, it provides an opportunity for families, friends, and the community to come together for a day of fun and philanthropy.”
The proceeds from the Pit Road Pickleball Tournament will help directly support the Charlotte Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities, bolstering their mission to change for the better the lives of underprivileged children in the local vicinity.
About Speedway Children’s Charities
Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC) operates as a registered US 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to channeling financial support to organizations directly addressing the critical needs of children.
In 2019 alone, Speedway Children’s Charities dispersed over $2.9 million through its eight chapters.
SCC stems from the vision of Bruton Smith, Chairman of Speedway Motorsports and Sonic Automotive, who founded the organization following the tragic loss of his son, Bruton Cameron Smith, at a young age.
Established as a national entity in 1982, SCC has since evolved into a conglomerate comprising eight chapters strategically stationed at each of the eight SMI facilities sprawled across the United States.
These chapters collectively endeavor to make a tangible difference in the lives of children by extending aid to organizations tailored to meet their specific needs.
