Pickleball’s popularity is on the rise in Charlotte, North Carolina, and an exciting addition is set to arrive in the summer of 2024.

The Tipsy Pickle entertainment complex at Camp North End will boast six pickleball courts, three bars, and a Tex-Mex-style menu.

An Elevated Experience

Covering 35,000 square feet, it will offer indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, along with golf simulators, ping pong, pool tables, shuffleboard, cornhole, and darts.

On the main level, patrons can enjoy indoor and outdoor bars, while a mezzanine-level cocktail lounge provides an elevated experience.

The venue also offers multiple event spaces suitable for various age groups and occasions, accommodating gatherings ranging from 10 to over 1,000 guests.

Understandably Enthusiastic

The brainchild of Charlotte businessmen Mike Salzarulo and Tanner Brooks, Tipsy Pickle aims to be a space where everyone can unwind and have a good time.

Salzarulo was understandably enthusiastic about the project:

“Our goal is to create a place where everyone can let loose, unwind and relax.

“With the array of activities we’re planning and the outstanding food and beverage options, we couldn’t have found a better location than Camp North End,” he said. “Our vision is for people to use this on a weekly or even daily basis and be able to create a different experience every time they come.”

“We love what pickleball brings to any occasion–recreation, friendly competition, and something to socialize around. But we’re not taking it too seriously,” Salzaruloa added. “Tipsy Pickle is for anyone looking for good food, good drinks, and good fun at an affordable price.”

Growing Exponentially

Brooks also said in a press release, “The popularity of pickleball is growing exponentially, and we want to create a place where everyone feels welcome, from the pros to the novices to the sideline heroes just looking to have a good time.”

The facility will incorporate custom technology to streamline pickleball leagues, reservations, and other engagements.

Key contributors to the project include chef Chad Newton, You Are Here Hospitality, The Plaid Penguin, Southwick Architecture + Interiors, New South Properties, and PointBlank Ventures.

A Leading Destination

Tommy Mann, development director of Camp North End for ATCO Properties, said, “Camp North End is thrilled about the exciting addition of Tipsy Pickle to the community.

“The creation of an expansive, pickleball-centric concept with impressive food and beverage options only further solidifies Camp North End as a leading destination for leisure, recreation, and hospitality.”

For those looking forward to experiencing Tipsy Pickle, it will be located at Camp North End, 201 Camp Road, Suite 107, Charlotte, NC 28206. Stay updated on developments via Instagram: @tipsypickleclt.

The project is slated to open in the summer of 2024, and regular updates about the complex’s development will be available on its website.

Camp North End

Camp North End is Charlotte’s most state-of-the-art creative hub.

Developers have transformed a 76-acre industrial site previously used as a car factory and military depot into a center for innovation and creativity.

Camp North End has food stalls, public art, shops, and events.

When I first started writing about pickleball, I hadn't appreciated the huge range of related features it encompasses: from building communities and players fighting against court closures to overcoming health challenges and raising money for charity, it's a whole new world! I love the stories about the smaller towns from the farthest-flung corners of the U.S. and how those residents have adopted pickleball to create friendships and community spirit.
