NBA All-Star Trae Young is just the latest in a long line of celebrities to buy a stake in a Major League Pickleball team. Young has recently become an investor in the Atlanta Bouncers, an MLP team owned by beer manufacturer Anheuser-Busch.
A Significant Partnership
This partnership is significant as it represents the first time the team has invited an investor to come on board. Young’s investment coincides with the Bouncers about to start their second season.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the collaboration, Young, two-time NBA All-Star and point guard for the Atlanta Hawks, stated, “As a pickleball player and fan myself, I am thrilled to be partnering with the Bouncers.
“It’s especially exciting to invest in a team that has Atlanta in its DNA. As someone who’s passionate about Atlanta and pickleball, it is the perfect opportunity to get involved.”

Influential Status
Marking Young’s inaugural investment in a professional sports team, he joins a notable roster of celebrity investors as pickleball’s popularity continues to surge across the nation.
Among these MLP investors are renowned athletes like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Draymond Green, alongside figures like Michael B. Jordan and Drake.
Matt Davis, VP of Partnerships at Anheuser-Busch, was delighted to welcome Trae Young as a partner with the Atlanta Bouncers, noting Young’s influential status within Atlanta and his forward-thinking vision for the team’s future:
“As we continue to invest in communities and local fanbases with our sports partnerships, we are eager to work alongside Trae to bring the Bouncers and the MLP to new heights.”
The Atlanta Bouncers
Established by Anheuser-Busch in 2023, the Atlanta Bouncers represent the city of Atlanta, renowned for its fervent sports culture, extensive tennis community, and burgeoning pickleball scene.
The team draws inspiration from Atlanta’s vibrant bar scene for its name and takes pride in embodying the spirit of the South.
The Bouncers’ roster comprises accomplished pickleball players, each with a commendable track record, most notably Parris Todd, who, as the 2022 MLP MVP, has secured 25 tournament medals this year.
Simone Jardim, Parris’ partner in APP women’s doubles, previously held the title of #1 women’s pickleball player. Pablo Tellez led the Bay Area Breakers to two MLP championships, and Hunter Johnson, the inaugural season’s captain of The Bouncers, boasts 25 medals from APP Tournaments in 2023.
Despite their individual accolades, the team’s strength lies in their cohesive chemistry, which stems from their prior experience playing together and their regular practice sessions due to them all living in proximity – a distinct advantage enjoyed by few other teams.
