Pickleball in Maine: Everything You Need to Know

Maine is a great state for pickleball players of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced players. With dedicated pickleball courts in Brunswick, Falmouth, and Bangor, as well as multiple pickleball organizations and tournaments, wherever you are you in the state should be able to find a game!

Pickleball in Maine

Pickleball is a fast-growing sport in Maine. The Maine Magazine covered the growth of pickleball in the state in 2020, and Maine Public Radio held a full hour-long breakdown of what makes the sport so popular in the state in 2022.

With a number of different courts, tournaments for all levels of play, and associations set up to advance the game, Maine pickleball is on the rise for pickleball players of all skill levels.

Pickleball Courts in Maine

Outdoor Pickleball Courts

Pegasus Courts, Brunswick

Pegasus Courts have six dedicated outdoor courts. The courts are open to play pickleball seven days a week, with the schedule split between drop-in play and group play.

To play at the Pegasus Courts you have to be a member of Midcoast Maine Pickleball. Non-members are allowed one free session before joining.

Williams Park, Bangor

Williams Park is a new pickleball facility with three dedicated outdoor courts. This is a great place for everyone from beginners to experienced players.

Westbrook High School, Westbrook

There are eight outdoor pickleball courts at Westbrook High School. The courts have permanent lines and lights and are free to use. You’ll need to bring your own net.

Indoor Pickleball Courts

Bath Area Family YMCA, Bath

The Bath Area Family YMCA has three indoor courts for pickleball play. It is free for YMCA members to play. Non-members can use the courts for twelve dollars.

Pickleball courts are open on the following schedule:

  • Monday: afternoons
  • Tuesday-Thursday: mornings and afternoons
  • Friday: no specific pickleball times

Foreside Fitness and Tennis, Falmouth

Foreside Fitness offers six indoor pickleball courts. They are available to the general public for a court fee, but only on weekends.

Pickleball Maine

Pickleball Maine offers pickleball clinics and lessons, as well as regular round-robin tournaments and social play.

Midcoast Maine Pickleball

Midcoast Maine Pickleball play at a number of locations within Brunswick. They hold regular competitions as well as social play for their members.

Pickleball Lessons in Maine

If you’re looking for pickleball lessons in Maine, one of the best people to contact is Wayne St Peter. He acts as the Head Pro for Foreside Fitness, and is extremely involved in the pickleball scene in Maine. You can contact Wayne St Peter at 207-831-8529

Pickleball Maine is another great resource for beginner players looking for lessons. They run group clinics, which can be a great way to develop your skills and meet fellow players. 

Pickleball Tournaments in Maine

The biggest pickleball tournament in Maine is the Atlantic Regional. This tournament is sanctioned by the USA Pickleball Association (USAPA) and is only open to USAPA members.

The Atlantic Regional offers men’s and women’s singles competitions, as well as men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles events.
