Pictona’s reputation as a bustling tournament host is set to be enhanced even further in the upcoming weeks.

Firstly, it will host an important amateur tournament, followed by a professional pickleball event. A newly established organization will also visit the Florida venue in between.

The Conviva Pictona Open

The Conviva Pictona Open runs from tomorrow, Thursday, October 19, through Sunday at the 49-court Holly Hill complex. It will witness over 600 players from across the southeast vying in six skill levels and nine age divisions.

The event encompasses men’s and women’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, and spectators have access to all the games.

Professional Pickleball Association’s Hertz Gold Cup

Following this, many of the sport’s premier players will return for the Professional Pickleball Association’s Hertz Gold Cup.

The PPA had previously graced Pictona in mid-March with the Red Clay Hot Sauce Open, and a Major League Pickleball team event had also taken place there later in the month.

Also, when you secure your spot for the Hertz Gold Cup, you automatically enter the VIP Experience Giveaway.

One fortunate winner and their guest will relish a weeklong VIP experience valued at $1,500, inclusive of reserved court-side seating, access to exclusive high-profile matches on the Championship Court, VIP lounge privileges, catered meals, and a selection of cold beverages.

Register here.

Further details about the PPA Tour, including ticket information, can be found here.

Minor League Pickleball

In the interim, a new entity — Minor League Pickleball — is poised to present a one-day team event at Pictona on October 28th.

This venture is pioneering fun, social, amateur team leagues nationwide.

It features a distinctive format, introducing variations to traditional match-ups and incorporating unique scoring methods for games, matches, and tiebreakers.

Pictona

Boasting 49 courts, with 13 of them sheltered, Pictona stands as one of the premier pickleball facilities in the U.S.

Situated in Holly Hill, Pictona caters to the broader Daytona Beach vicinity. It also has a covered championship court, accommodating 1,200 spectators for pickleball events and 1,600 for entertainment events.

Additionally, amenities such as the restaurant (referred to as the Kitchen), a concession stand known as The Depot, a clubhouse, an education center, and more are accessible to members and the general public.

This quality has been recognized as they were recently lauded as the finest tournament venue in Florida. Pickleball Magazine duly acknowledged them in their roster of the Top 25 Great Places to Play.

When I first started writing about pickleball, I hadn't appreciated the huge range of related features it encompasses: from building communities and players fighting against court closures to overcoming health challenges and raising money for charity, it's a whole new world! I love the stories about the smaller towns from the farthest-flung corners of the U.S. and how those residents have adopted pickleball to create friendships and community spirit.
