The much-awaited event Atlantic City Open is back, and it promises to be bigger and better in 2023! With a host of exciting additions and improvements, this year’s tournament is set to reach new heights.

New Cutting Edge Outdoor Surface and Major Sponsor

One of the most significant upgrades for this year’s event is the introduction of a brand-new outdoor surface provided by Pickleball United Floor and sponsored by Franklin Sports.

Players will also have the opportunity to play with the high-performance Franklin X-40 outdoor ball, ensuring a fantastic gameplay experience. And that’s not all!

The stakes have been raised with Golden Tickets for the 2024 Nationals being handed out at this tournament, along with a staggering prize of $10,000.

No Rain Delays, Just Non-Stop Pickleball

One advantage of the Atlantic City Open being an indoor tournament is that players need not worry about rain delays. It’s going to be a pickleball extravaganza all day long, with 40 indoor courts available for action.

Spectator seating is strategically placed around the courts so you can catch all the action.

Innovative Cushioned Pop Up Courts

A highlight of this year’s tournament will be the use of state-of-the-art, cushioned Pop Up pickleball courts from Pickleball United’s “True Court,” the Official Rollout Court Partner of USA Pickleball.

These innovative courts have a polyvinyl sub-surface with a textured non-skid playing surface, providing better comfort for players’ legs.

The same courts were successfully used at the recent Pickleball Slam held at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida, adding a touch of prestige to the Atlantic City Open.

Skill and Age Diversity on Display

The tournament will feature multiple skill and age categories, catering to players of all levels and ages. Skill groups range from 3.0 to 5.0, while age groups include 19+, 30+, 40+, 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+, 75+, and 80+.

For those at the Open/Pro level with a 4.0+ skill level and up, a special category has been designed to showcase their exceptional talent.

Registration Made Easy

Registration for the event is limited, so players wishing to participate should sign up on Pickleball Brackets today to secure their spot. The registration fee is $95, and there’s a referee fee of $35 and an event fee of $40.

For those entering the Open/Pro category, the event fee is $60, and they will receive a complimentary tournament hat.

A Golden Ticket to the Nationals

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the Atlantic City Open is the opportunity for all Gold Medalists to qualify for a pre-registration opportunity for the 2024 USA Pickleball Nationals.

In the event that brackets are combined, each winner will be awarded a Golden Ticket, granting them preregistration for the prestigious 2024 Nationals.

Mark Your Calendar!

So, whether you’re a seasoned Pickleball pro or a passionate enthusiast, the Atlantic City Open in 2023 is the ultimate event to be a part of. With top-notch facilities, exciting prizes, and the chance to qualify for the 2024 Nationals, it’s an experience that no pickleball lover would want to miss!

So come on down to the Atlantic City Convention Center – 1 Convention Boulevard Atlantic City, New Jersey 08401, from September 19 to 23. Mark your calendar with those dates and get ready for an unforgettable pickleball extravaganza!

When I first started writing about pickleball, I hadn't appreciated the huge range of related features it encompasses: from building communities and players fighting against court closures to overcoming health challenges and raising money for charity, it's a whole new world! I love the stories about the smaller towns from the farthest-flung corners of the U.S. and how those residents have adopted pickleball to create friendships and community spirit.
