April is National Pickleball Month, and Palm Coast, Florida, is just one of the many places that will hold special events to celebrate the occasion. USA Pickleball is also getting in on the act with some celebrations of its own.

Palm Coast

National Pickleball Month, established in 2018, seeks to unite aficionados of the sport while introducing it to new audiences and sharing its inclusive, enjoyable, and health-enhancing attributes.

Throughout April, Palm Coast will spotlight the recently revamped Southern Recreation Center, which boasts an impressive array of 12 cutting-edge outdoor pickleball courts.

As part of the festivities, the city invites residents to participate in “Welcome to Pickleball” sessions at the center. Here, certified instructors will teach the game’s fundamentals to beginners. These complimentary sessions are scheduled on Fridays and Tuesdays from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and Wednesdays from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Moreover, residents keen on playing pickleball at Holland Park can do so by collecting pickleball nets free of charge from the Palm Coast Community Center.

“A Fantastic Opportunity”

“National Pickleball Month is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate the joys of this dynamic sport,” remarked James Hirst, Director of Parks and Recreation. “Celebrating national months like this underscores the dedication and commitment of our City staff to maintaining Palm Coast as a cherished place to live, learn, work, and play.

“Whether you’re a newcomer to pickleball or an experienced player, I encourage you to join us, invite a friend, family member, or neighbor, and enjoy a friendly game at our new Southern Recreation Center or Holland Park.”

Palm Coast is about 60 miles south of Jacksonville, which is also featured in one of our recent articles.

USA Pickleball

“It’s my pleasure to wish our community a very happy National Pickleball Month! We could not be more excited to kick off the sixth annual National Pickleball Month as we continue to reach new heights within our sport and observe continued growth across all aspects of pickleball,” said Mike Nealy, USA Pickleball Chief Executive Officer.

“While our team at USA Pickleball views every month as Pickleball Month, we are delighted to engage with our members to truly celebrate the many different aspects of our sport this April. I look forward to the festivities ahead!”

As we announced over the weekend, USA Pickleball also launched its official charitable arm, “USA Pickleball Serves,” with the beginning of National Pickleball Month.

The mission of USA Pickleball Serves is to make a positive national impact through the sport of pickleball by supporting community initiatives like court enhancements, educational youth programming and inclusive play.

USA Pickleball has announced it will celebrate people, places and events using weekly themes during April that focus on different topics as follows:

April 1-8 – Why We Love Pickleball
April 9-15 – Up Your Game
April 16-22 – Member Appreciation
April 23-30 – What’s Next/Looking Ahead

When I first started writing about pickleball, I hadn't appreciated the huge range of related features it encompasses: from building communities and players fighting against court closures to overcoming health challenges and raising money for charity, it's a whole new world! I love the stories about the smaller towns from the farthest-flung corners of the U.S. and how those residents have adopted pickleball to create friendships and community spirit.

Improve your game and stay connected to the sport you love.
