Miami was the place to be over the weekend as the city hosted two pickleball events at Miami Beach and in Jungle Plaza, just north of the downtown area.
Break The Love
Miami’s design district transformed into a pickleball-only zone as Sports booking platform Break the Love, experts in bringing racquet sports to the people, and French artist JR, renowned for his flyposted black-and-white photographic images in public locations, got together on Saturday to host PickleBasel, a pickleball pop-up event at Miami’s Art Basel in Jungle Plaza.
In advance of the pop-up, Breathe Miami called the event “a perfect blend of leisure and creativity” for “the fusion of sports and art.”
FlexCourt And Ace Pickleball Club
FlexCourt and pros from Ace Pickleball Club ensured participants experienced a thoroughly electric on-court experience. Off the court, attendees enjoyed the sport and refreshments, live music, shopping, and more.
The organizers had also laid on a whole host of exciting attractions, such as pickleball clinics and a station where people could play-test different paddles.
Festival-goers were also to try energy drinks from Gorgie, gin cocktails from Hey, Hei, as well as Perrier and Essentia, and enjoy offerings from Caracas Bakery and Angie’s Epicurean vegan ice cream. Miami Beach Bum and Bubble provided a range of skin treatments to players and the public, too.
The FlexCourt courts, built from its easy-to-install, snap-together flooring, were expected to be donated to organizations after the event. These included Miami’s Lotus House Women’s Shelter and Overtown Youth Center.
JR, who appeared on Time’s Most Influential People list in 2018, also exhibited his artwork throughout the pop-up.
Nick Kygrios In Attendance!
The PickleBasel event wasn’t the only rodeo in town as #SCOPEMiamiBeach returned to the sands of Ocean Drive and 8th Street.

The six-day get-together is known for presenting groundbreaking contemporary work, and SCOPE Miami Beach welcomed 130 international exhibitors to its beachfront pavilion with a focus on the New Contemporary.
Event-goes enjoyed their favorite coffees, juices, shakes, and snacks from Joe & The Juice. They were also able to sign up for lessons with a Miami Pickleball Club ambassador through the Joe & The Juice app and win a free coffee.
There was also an opportunity to get your body moving with a match on the court and watch some of your favorite celebs duel on their custom pink court, including professional tennis player Nick Kygrios!
