One of North America’s most rapidly expanding pickleball hubs, The Picklr, has revealed that Omaha, Nebraska, has emerged victorious in the “Picklr Your City” contest, securing an envied place as the next location of a Picklr facility.
Eight-Week Online Contest
After an intense eight-week online contest, pickleball fans cast more than 20,000 votes across the nation, all competing for the privilege of having a Picklr facility in their hometown.
In a bracket-style showdown working its way through “ties” between 32 top locations, Omaha reached the final four alongside Anchorage, Alaska; Lake Forest, California; and Quincy, Illinois.
Media campaigns and local voter drives were all part of the online contest, which superstar Katy Perry and The Dink supported. The event ended up generating a massive 5.2 million social media views!
Omaha’s forthcoming Picklr spot will mark Nebraska’s maiden dedicated indoor pickleball facility, revolutionizing the local scene with year-round access to professional-grade indoor courts and surely generating a vibrant pickleball community.
The Driving Force
Scott Francis, an Omaha resident deeply entrenched in the local pickleball community, was the driving force behind the winning campaign and could barely contain his excitement as he exclaimed, “As someone born and raised in Omaha and has played racquet sports since I was a teenager, you will not find a community that loves sports, particularly pickleball, more than Omaha.
“The local pickleball community here is filled with friendly and enthusiastic players and already has a strong community. We can’t wait to welcome The Picklr.”
Following a site selection and confirmation, The Picklr aims to inaugurate the Omaha facility within six months, promising a grand opening extravaganza featuring professional player appearances, specialized clinics, membership offers, and more.
Meteoric Rise
The Picklr’s meteoric rise in 2023 sees it poised to span over 120 locations across 11 states by the end of 2024. Renowned for cutting-edge facilities, a vibrant pickleball community, and inclusive access to tournaments and clinics, The Picklr is setting new standards for players and franchise owners.
It has recently announced the addition of an all-new leadership team to spearhead its expansion.
