Gilbert Regional Park will be the host site for several pickleball tournaments from February to April this year. The park’s events are tremendously popular with 100 players registered for the Gilbert Regional Park Winter Classic which took place last month.

The tournament was organized by Pickleball Is Great and featured a round-robin format for gold, silver, and bronze medals.

A Jam-Packed Day!

Session one is from 11 a.m. to noon, while session two takes place from noon to 1 p.m.

The remaining sports are limited, so sign up here now.

Member-Guest Crew Tournament

Finally, enjoy an afternoon of spirited competition at the Member-Guest Crew Tournament, running from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. This tournament promises a dynamic Major League Pickleball (MLP) style format with a series of matches that will challenge your teamwork and skills.

There will be two gender doubles matches and two mixed doubles matches. In the event of a tie, the contest will be decided by a single dream breaker.

The format will be round-robin to bracket play for DUPR 14, 16, and 18 levels. Each captain must build a team of four players, comprising at least one non-member with two males and two females per team.

Register by following this link.

The day will also feature giveaways and prizes, a members’ lounge, and a food truck.

Public Play During Tournaments

All pickleball courts at Gilbert Regional Park will reopen to the public at the close of each tournament.

During tournaments, courts can get very crowded and will operate on a first-come, first-served use until court capacity is reached. When court capacity is reached, court rotation must be followed.

Alternatively, players can check out other public courts at Arbuckle Park and Arrowhead Meadows Park.

Sign up for the Gilbert Park email to keep up to date with its pickleball activity.

When I first started writing about pickleball, I hadn't appreciated the huge range of related features it encompasses: from building communities and players fighting against court closures to overcoming health challenges and raising money for charity, it's a whole new world! I love the stories about the smaller towns from the farthest-flung corners of the U.S. and how those residents have adopted pickleball to create friendships and community spirit.
