A new Chicken N Pickle restaurant is set to become a part of the upcoming Tranquility Park development situated in Omaha, Nebraska. This addition will feature not only a restaurant but also a pickleball facility within Tranquility Park, aligning with the city’s ongoing efforts to finalize its multisport complex over the next few years.

Inaugural Venture

Hailing from Kansas City, Chicken N Pickle is well-known for its indoor and outdoor pickleball courts sitting alongside a dining venue. It has now confirmed that Omaha would mark its inaugural venture into Nebraska.

Lauren Wagner for omaha.com reports that the establishment is expected to take shape in 2024 within Omaha’s Tranquility Park, an established public soccer facility located between West Maple Road and Fort Street on North 120th Street.

Omaha’s recent announcement of a $54 million investment aims to revamp this 50-year-old park into a comprehensive youth multisport complex.

“The Ideal Complement”

Mayor Jean Stothert was understandably enthusiastic about this collaboration and emphasized in a press release how Chicken N Pickle perfectly complements the city’s vision:

“Chicken N Pickle is the ideal complement to our youth multi-sports complex and tournament facility at Tranquility Park and the neighboring Tranquility Commons development. It will enhance Tranquility as a destination for sports entertainment and recreation.”

The refurbishment plans for Tranquility Park consist of the creation of 16 versatile synthetic turf fields and up to 11 synthetic turf baseball and softball fields, alongside upgraded parking and concessions.

Their Signature Indoor And Outdoor Courts

Additionally, the park’s transformation is set to introduce various new amenities, including hotels, restaurants, and retail outlets, with Chicken N Pickle being the latest inclusion.

Details of the forthcoming restaurant entail a sports bar, their signature indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, and yard games. The main dining area is designed to accommodate private events, while guests can also enjoy rooftop dining options.

Established in Kansas City in 2016, Chicken N Pickle has expanded across multiple states, offering craft cocktails and a menu featuring rotisserie chicken in various seasonings, pork and beef sandwiches, alongside sides like fries and tater tots.

“A Safe, Inclusive Environment”

Brad Clarke, CEO of Chicken N Pickle, emphasized their commitment to creating a welcoming and engaging environment:

“Our properties provide a safe, inclusive, and playful backyard-style environment where memories are made, magic comes to life, and fun and play happen all year round.

The construction for the Chicken N Pickle establishment at Tranquility Park is expected to commence in 2024, with a public opening scheduled in 2025.

Local Demand For Pickleball

The renovation of Tranquility Park will kick off initially with the soccer fields in 2024, followed by baseball and softball improvements starting in 2026, and slated completion by 2027.

Currently, the park hosts 17 soccer fields, including a synthetic turf field and eight natural turf baseball fields.

Given the rising popularity of pickleball in Omaha, the local demand for more courts has been more than evident, as seen with recent establishments like Blue Sky Patio and Pickle Ball, which opened in Regency Landing in 2022, offering a bar and rentable pickleball courts.

When I first started writing about pickleball, I hadn't appreciated the huge range of related features it encompasses: from building communities and players fighting against court closures to overcoming health challenges and raising money for charity, it's a whole new world! I love the stories about the smaller towns from the farthest-flung corners of the U.S. and how those residents have adopted pickleball to create friendships and community spirit.
