National Pickleball (NP) and The Senior Pro Tour have added Senior Pro Doubles and Singles events to six of the upcoming tournaments for NP’s 2023 season.
National Pickleball specializes in developing and hosting pickleball tournaments for amateur players with the goal of supporting the sport’s growing competitive scene. Amateur players are able to participate in pro-level tournaments with the potential for both cash prize payouts and sponsorship opportunities.
Partnering with The Senior Pro Tour will give more of pickleball’s senior players a chance at participating in highly competitive environments. The Senior Pro Tour’s goal of providing a platform for the senior pro age group pairs perfectly with NP’s ability to create such platforms.
Of the upcoming 21 NP tournaments in 2023, The Senior Pro Tour will be represented at the following six tournaments. Registration is currently open for players in 4.0+ skills levels and in the 50+ age group.
- NP Sacramento Classic – Sacramento, CA – July 21-23
- NP Mile High Classic – Arvada/Denver, CO – August 25-27
- NP Poway Classic – Poway, CA – September 29 – October 1
- NP Punta Gorda Classic – Punta Gorda, FL – October 19-22
- NP Palm Desert Open $10k – October 27-29
- NP Arizona Open $15k – Mesa, AZ – November 17-19
National Pickleball also recently announced their continued partnership with USA Pickleball (USAPA), the sport’s “National Governing Body.” USAPA’s sanctioning of NP’s tournaments will ensure that every event will be held at pro-level standards.
The Senior Pro Tour believes that National Pickleball’s tournaments are the perfect option for supporting their players. They plan on offering prize money to podium winners, and even to 4th-8th place depending on the tournament’s draw size.
The COO of Advanced Sports Media (owner of National Pickleball), Seth Burleigh, is hopeful that their partnership with The Senior Pro Tour will be exactly what pickleball’s senior players need to be supported in their pursuit of playing professional pickleball.
“Senior pros are some of the most iconic and recognizable players in our sport and continue to make a huge impact in the pickleball community. We are excited to provide a tour where the prize money and tournament infrastructure reflects their skill and dedication, and we are happy to support them,”
Seth Burleigh, COO of Advanced Sports Media
The Senior Pro Tour’s first event with National Pickleball will be at the NP Sacramento Classic running July 21-24 at Johnson Ranch Pickleball Complex. The event will follow USAPA-sanctioned rules with round-robin brackets in a wide variety of singles and doubles formats.
