The APP Tour is finally back for round three of 2023 at the Mesa Open which will be the biggest APP tournament yet! With over 1,300 amateur and pro players gearing up to hit the courts this weekend, there’s a lot to get excited about. The 2023 APP Mesa Open kicks off today at Bell Bank Park in Mesa, AZ, and will run through Sunday, April 2. Major League Pickleball (MLP) was back for round two of its new format’s inaugural season, and the competition has never been more exciting. Last weekend’s MLP Daytona Beach event saw it all; from defending champs to the rise of a new winner in the Premier Level, Daytona really turned up the intensity! Next year, Cleveland, OH will be hosting the Pan-American Masters Games (PAMG), an event that showcases the athletic abilities of over 7,500 masters athletes from more than 50 countries. Thousands of spectators from around the world will gather in what is projected to be the largest international gathering in Northeast Ohio’s history. Championship Sunday of last weekend’s PPA Austin Showdown began with the announcement that Thanh Vo, a competitor in Men’s Senior Singles, had tragically passed away during his first match on Thursday, March 16. After a moment of silence for him, the PPA Tour shared the GoFundMe fundraiser started by Thanh’s children, Emily and John, to help support the family in their time of need. The pickleball community has since helped raise over $13,000, which will go towards the costs of memorial arrangements and transporting Thanh back to his home in Nashville, TN. The National Pickleball League (NPL) is gearing up for the launch of its inaugural season. Today, they’ve announced the third official team for their organization: The Denver Iconics. The NPL is pickleball’s premier Champions Division (50+) league based in a team competition format. Pickleball’s top senior pros around the nation will participate in a draft this April where the league’s six teams will each draft 16-20 players.
