The Summit is a brand-new indoor Pickleball facility and the first of its kind solely dedicated to the sport in the High Country of North Carolina.
It opened its doors on Monday, September 18, and was swiftly met with an overwhelmingly positive response from patrons.
The Owners
Here is a little bit about the owners:
Grant Williams
Grant discovered pickleball in 2021 and has been actively involved since. Prior to this, his interests included hiking and tennis.
He currently practices as an ER doctor at Watauga and Cannon, although he greatly prefers meeting up at The Summit.
Grant extends his gratitude to his wife Amy and sons Bryce, Parker, and Jasper for their contributions in turning The Summit from a dream into reality.
Crystal Smith
Crystal was introduced to pickleball in 2021 by her late friend Bruce Comer. Since then, she has become deeply engrossed in the sport, playing nearly every day.
Her enthusiasm for pickleball is well-known among her circle. Crystal holds a strong affection for the Boone community and is passionate about sharing the joy of pickleball.
She looks forward to welcoming you to The Summit.
Summit Membership Tiers
The club provides two membership tiers tailored to your needs:
– Bronze: $0 per month, with higher court fees.
– Platinum: $89 per month, inclusive of free open play and ball machine use.
Ladder Leagues
Join them on Tuesday nights from 6 to 8 p.m. for open play and Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon for those aged 50 and above.
The session fee is $5 ($2.50 for platinum members), and prizes are awarded daily, with a grand prize winner at the end.
The ladder league format involves playing a game to 11 points with the other 3 players on your court. The top 2 scores advance a court, while the bottom 2 move down. We play for 2 hours.

Clinics
Elevate your game in a supportive group setting with these educational workshops:
– Start-Up Boot Camps: A 2-hour session providing essential tools for immediate play, covering rules, scoring, and fundamental paddle skills.
– Beginner Clinics: Focus on foundational strokes, footwork, strategies, and other key aspects for rapid improvement.
– Intermediate/Advanced Clinics: Hone serves, returns, drives, drops, volleys, rolls, overheads, footwork, hand speed, and delve into advanced strategies.

Private Lessons
They provide personalized instruction for individuals or groups of any size. Their endorsed instructors are:
– Lisa Creech Bledsoe: Former boxer and USA Boxing referee turned pickleball coach with 2 years of coaching experience.
– Karen Ernest: App State alum, corporate trainer, and PPR-certified instructor passionate about teaching pickleball.
Owners Crystal and Grant are PPR-certified 4.5+ level players and can offer expertise across all skill levels. External instructors are also available upon request.

Tournaments
The Summit will host monthly pickleball tournaments catering to all skill levels. Stay tuned for more details.
