The National Pickleball League (NPL) recently hosted a huge Draft Combine event at the Chicken N Pickle in Oklahoma City, OK. Champions Division (50+) players from all over the country united for the first time to compete and celebrate the league’s first season. The co-founders of The Pickle Lodge in West Chester Township, Ohio, the second-largest indoor pickleball complex in the US, aim to partially open their facility by the end of this month, subject to receiving the necessary approval from county regulators. The first stage of the 60,000-square-foot facility’s opening is planned for April, with two further phases to follow. The APP Mesa Open last weekend was full of surprises from the APP’s top athletes. From Salmoe Devidze’s stand out match in women’s singles to the first time partnership of Pesa Teoni and Andrei Daescu in men’s doubles, the Mesa Open truly was pro pickleball at its finest. With over 400 pros competing in the main draw at this event, with 1,300 players total, the Mesa Open was the largest tournament so far for the APP Tour this year. For the second year in a row, the APP will be a promoting partner for Pickleball England’s premier professional and amateur pickleball competition in all of Europe. The 2023 English Open will take place at the Telford International Centre in Shropshire, England and will run from August 3-6. Similar to the United States, the United Kingdom has seen massive growth in the sport as well. It’s official: April is now National Pickleball Month! USA Pickleball (USAPA) recently announced that they will be shining a spotlight on the game we love throughout the month of April. USAPA is widely considered to be the National Governing Body of the sport, regulating its many rules to ensure that pickleball remains fair and accessible to all of its players.
